Skyline College Automotive Department would like to connect automotive students with employers. We are looking for employers who are willing to take a student with limited experience and teach them what it is like to work in a shop and perform quality work in a timely manner. Our students typically have the knowledge but lack experience and confidence. Our students attend automotive training four days a week: either Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday. We have classes from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 1:30 PM to 6:30 PM. In order to match students with employers we would like to post job announcements on our website and post student resumes.

We often get calls and emails from employers in June and July who are looking for a graduate student to employ. By this time all of our students are on summer break and most of our graduates had already been working part time for the past 2 - 18 months. Most of them will be going to work full time with their current employer. The best time to find a graduate is sometime between 2 and 18 months before graduation which is at the end of May. If you can manage to work with a student part time for a year by the time they graduate they know how you like things done and turn into wonderful employees.
We have an internship program where the students earn college credit while they work for you. Kind of like a try before you buy deal. The student is employed by you for a semester which is typically 3 months. At the end of 3 months you can decide to keep the student or part ways. No harm, no foul. During this time the student will have learning objectives he/she needs to complete while under your employment.
