The Health Center provides health care services, referral services, and educational information related to health care to students and staff.

The College Health Center is closed on weekends. College Health Center personnel are happy to assist students with any health issues. Please feel free to drop in or call the Center at (650) 738-4270 or 650- 222-6321.

The Health Center is open on a drop-in-basis to advise students regarding minor illness, evaluate symptoms, and refer, if necessary, to local community clinics or doctors, and provide first aid for injuries or accidents. The nurse can provide information regarding general health, nutrition and diet, sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancy prevention, problems with smoking, alcohol/drugs and other health concerns. Blood pressure checks, vision and hearing testing, TB testing and pregnancy testing are also available.

Health information and listings of Health Center activities can be found in the Health Center and on bulletin boards located in the stairwells of Building 2. Watch for postings about special events.

Students who have health conditions or who are taking prescription medication, which may affect them on campus, are strongly encouraged to share this information with the College Nurse. All information given to the Health Center and services provided by the College Nurse are strictly confidential.

A group health and dental insurance plan is available to students at a reasonable cost. Students must be enrolled in 6 or more units per semester to be eligible for this coverage.

Services


Emergency care and first-aid, health screening, pregnancy testing, TB testing, blood pressure check, health assessment and referral, treatment of minor injuries, nutrition counseling, hearing screening, stress reduction information, student health insurance, STD information and crisis intervention. Free, anonymous HIV testing every other month. Free condoms.

 

Health Education: Women's health, men's health, drugs, smoking, nutrition, eating disorders, rape, blood pressure, abuse, mental health, STDs, AIDS awareness, stress, depression, ergonomics, community health and mental health resources.

CPR and first aid classes (need a link)

 

Events: Blood Drive, alcohol screening, HIV testing and counseling every other month, Rape Awareness, Depression screening, Breast Cancer Walk, Great American Smoke out, Flu shots, Low cost vision exams.

 

Videos: The Health Center maintains a library of more than 50 videos of pertinent health issues for use by college students, staff and faculty. Videos may be borrowed by faculty and staff for a period of time not to exceed two weeks. Students may view the videos in the Health Center. Topic include: Addiction, HIV & AIDS, STDs, Smoking and Tobacco, Nutrition and Eating Disorders, Rape and General Health Topics.
