If all lines above are busy or there is no answer, dial Ext. 4100 and then press 0; the staff members who answer incoming calls maintain a list of available administrators, one of which will contacted to respond to the emergency.

 

 


Evening: Contact the Evening Office, Ext. 4206.


Ordinarily the decision to call an ambulance will be made by the College Nurse or by a designee following an examination. However, if it is obvious that an ambulance is immediately needed, call: 9-911.
 

Fire or Other Emergencies


Sound the Alarm

Activate the nearest alarm box by breaking the glass. The alarm system does not automatically summon the fire department. The location of alarm boxes is given on pages 56-58.


 

Report the Emergency by Phone Call 9-911 and 4100 (4256 or 4206 in the evening).

Identify yourself -- give the number of the building and the location of the area endangered.

 


 

Supervise the Evacuation of the Area Endangered

 

When the alarm sounds, the building must be evacuated at once, except if emergency is of such a nature evacuation is not feasible.


Faculty and staff members are responsible for the instruction of students in procedures to be followed in the event of an alarm and for the maintenance of order during evacuation of buildings. Students should be directed to proceed out of buildings by means of the nearest unblocked exit to areas fifty feet or more from a building; and to proceed to designated campus massing areas, if emergency or disaster so indicates.


Division offices and the Evening Office have copies of the College's Emergency Plan.
