Magazine & Journal Databases (to access articles):

Gale Health and Wellness Resource Center: an excellent database that is available from off-campus--as long as you have a library card:

  • To search only for articles that include the full text (the whole article) in the database, check the "articles with text" box next to "Limit the current search" (below the text entry box)
  • To narrow searches, combine concepts with AND.
  • PLEASE NOTE: When search results are first displayed, only reference articles are usually shown.
    Click on the "Magazines & Journalstab to display all magazine and journal articles on your topic.
  • Once you find one article specifically on your topic, click on any relevant subject headings under: See Also: at the upper left of the article page) to find more articles on that topic.

PubMed: The Medline database-- the most extensive medical journal database available, including abstracts (i.e. summaries - limited access to full-text articles) of medical journal articles from 1966 to the present. Links from abstracts to the full text articles are now available for a limited number of journals. * Freely accessible from the World Wide Web
