Skyline College’s Environmental Science and Technology department was developed to provide students with a greater understanding of environmental issues and to meet the needs of a new green workforce. Recognizing the growing public demand for clean energy, courses in environmental science and technology provide students with knowledge of building science, energy systems, and alternative energy. A green workforce puts into practice the study of sustainability, finding potential solutions to environmental problems while balancing economic and social impacts. Once enrolled, students have the ability to explore causes of environmental issues through multiple contexts (social science, business and engineering). The hands-on courses offered in the Environmental Science and Technology department result in industry-recognized certificates and focus on sustainable solutions that provide economic value, improve comfort, and create environmental benefit.
Throughout their education/training, we assist students in transitioning into and capitalizing on growth areas of the green economy.
Skyline College continues to be a leader in developing and supporting regional partnerships that promote quality, innovative clean energy training programs leading to high road employment opportunities.
Skyline College is proud to be able to offer some programs at no cost to students, provided they meet certain eligibility requirements:
