Skyline Women's Basketball earns #10 seed in CCCAA Basketball Playoffs Bracket
Women’s Basketball Finishes Strong
Skyline College Women’s Basketball completed a perfect second half of the Coast Conference season by defeating San Jose City College Wednesday night. Skyline took at 27-21 lead into halftime and never looked back. The Trojans extended their lead by as many as 15 points in the second half before finishing the game off with a 61-48 win. With Wednesday’s win, Skyline finished with an overall record of 17-8 and a Coast Conference record of 8-4. Skyline anxiously awaits the playoff bracket to be released on Sunday and hopes to stay hot in post-season play.
Skyline Women’s Basketball Defeats Chabot College on Sophomore Night
Skyline College made sophomore night special by beating the #2 ranked team in Nor Cal, Chabot College. Chabot’s stellar first half play earned them an 11 point halftime lead, but Skyline refused to give up. Skyline battled back in the second half through great defense and rebounding, as well as some timely shooting. The timeliest shot came from sophomore Monique Garrett who sank a buzzer beating three-pointer to send the game to overtime. Skyline used more of Monique’s outside shooting in the extra period to seal the game and a 75-68 win. Skyline was lead by Monique Garrett and Tianna Mitchell who both had 17 points, while Sahara Clay chipped in another 15. Mitchell also led the team in rebounds with 21 and blocks with 4. Skyline has made great strides this year and much of the team’s success can be attributed to its sophomores: Clay, Garrett, Mitchell, forward Marielle Beltran, point guard Jazel Talauta, and shooting guard Chloe Tinio.
Skyline Women’s Basketball defeats City College of San Francisco
Skyline College Women’s Basketball defeated City College of San Francisco on Wednesday night by a final of 60-50. Skyline used a spread scoring attack, good post play, and great perimeter defense to lead the Rams 36-24 at halftime. CCSF closed the lead in the second half, but good ball control from Jazel Talauta and timely shooting from Monique Garret helped the Trojans pull away. Skyline will host Ohlone College at 5pm on Friday.

SAN MATEO -- Skyline College scored the first nine points and the last eight points of an otherwise mostly even game to record a 72-55 victory over host College of San Mateo in Wednesday night’s Coast Conference North women’s basketball opener.Skyline (6-4, 1-0 Coast North) got 22 points from Alyssa Dela Cruz, including 14 in the second half, and 18 points from season scoring leader Stephanie Allen.
McKenna Hilton led CSM (3-11, 0-1) with 16 points and also had eight rebounds. Natalie Harden led the Bulldogs on the boards with nine grabs and also scored six first half points. Julianne Llacer had eight points, seven rebounds, and two steals.Skyline led, 35-27 at the half. CSM closed to within seven points, 55-48, with 7:44 left in the game, and was still in contention at 60-52 with 4:05 remaining. The Trojans responded to each threat with a pair of baskets before the final run.
The Lady Trojans, who are 10-1 against Northern California teams, have their conference home opener Friday, hosting City College of San Francisco (11-6, 0-1) at 7 p.m.More News
