As the San Mateo Community College District transitions to online instruction, the EAC wants to ensure your accommodations are in place and you are fully supported. The EAC is operational during this time.

If you have not already done so, please provide your instructors with your letter of accommodations.

If you need an electronic copy of your accommodation letter, please fill out Request for Accomodation Letter.

If you need to request alternate media, please Request for Alternate Media.

If you need any of the following: counseling appointment, assistive technology, math/chemistry tutoring, or have questions or concerns, please email skydrc@smccd.edu.

You may also call (650) 738-4280 and leave a detailed voice message with your name and G# or call our Google Voice line which is being monitored during work hours at (650) 242-5954.

If you feel you may benefit from academic adjustments and auxiliary aids, please complete the application for services and upload your verification of disability.

In-Class Accommodations

Classes will available through an online format utilizing Canvas. Most professors will be using discussion boards, posting PowerPoints and lectures notes, and posting videos as part of their instruction. Because of the change in format, there should not be a need for a peer note-taker. If you have any concerns about the accessibility of methods and/or materials being used in your online class, please contact the EAC.

Exam/Quiz Accommodations

Instructors are able to adjust exam and quiz time in Canvas. Your instructors should adjust your time to reflect your accommodated extended time for testing. You do not need to submit a Test Accommodation Request Form in order for your instructor to make these adjustments to your exam/quiz time. If your instructor has not made the extended time adjustment, please remind them to do so. If you are having difficulty communicating with your instructor on the need for extended time, please contact the EAC.

Counseling/Accommodation Appointments

If you would like to request an appointment, contact us at skydrc@smccd.edu. Please list all of your available days/times. Appointments will be available via phone or Zoom whichever format you feel most comfortable using. Please be aware that phone calls may appear as private/blocked and/or you will not recognize the number. Please answer any calls you receive during your appointed meeting time. Zoom: Is an easy to use conferencing platform that can be used on your cell phone, computer, or iPad, with or without video. If you chose the Zoom option, we will provide you information via an invite through your campus email. It’s really easy to use.

Assistive Technology & Alternate Media

Kurzweil 3000 will still be available to students who have this as an accommodation. Kurzweil does work in Canvas. If you need support in using Kurzweil in Canvas, please contact the EAC.

If you encounter any inaccessible materials that need to be converted into an electronic format please contact the Alt Media Specialist at altmedia@smccd.edu or submit an Alt Media request form.

Tutoring Support

Transitioning to online instruction can be very challenging. We are here to help during this transition and beyond. The EAC is offering math/chemistry tutoring via Zoom (it will be a more enriched experience if you use video for this). If you are interested in tutoring, please email us your available days/times and we will do our best to match your requested time. Other tutoring is available through The Learning Center.
