Welcome from the Chapter President

Jaimelynn

Hello everyone! Congratulations and welcome to Beta Theta Omicron, Skyline College’s chapter of the International Honor Society Phi Theta Kappa. Your academic dedication and achievements have earned you this distinction. As a member, many opportunities to enrich your personal and academic experiences are within your grasp.

Phi Theta Kappa is committed to academic excellence and individual growth by providing leaderships, scholarship, fellowship, and service opportunities. The experience and skills you will earn from actively participating in the organization will be invaluable; skills that you will carry and utilize throughout the rest of your life. On a more practical level we offer unparalleled services and benefits such as exclusive scholarships along with the proper tools for college essays, resume help, and a competitive edge program to build your professional skills.

This year our honors study topic is Frontiers and the Spirit of Exploration. This important current issue examines how our lives and the world around us are affected by new discoveries and extending known boundaries. Beta Theta Omicron members will also be working on a College Project focusing on middle school outreach and the encouragement of youth exploring STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields. These topics are the basis for our chapter to learn, lead, serve, and collaborate with others.

Again, I congratulate you on your achievements and I encourage you to take advantage of the challenges and benefits that Phi Theta Kappa has to offer!

Jaimelynn B. Alvarez
President, 2014-2015
