What is Base 11?

Base 11 is a non-profit workforce development and entrepreneurial innovation company focused on creating the next generation of leaders in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). They are working here on campus to ensure Skyline College students have more opportunities to succeed in the STEM fields.

One key aspect of the partnership is enrolling top-performing students in paid fellowship programs like the Caltech Aerospace Mentorship Program, the USC Rocketry Lab and Internship, the Base 11 Aircraft Restoration Internship at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, and an internship at the University of California, Irvine. The Base 11 Blog has additional resources for interested students.

The Fabrication Lab at Skyline College

Base 11 is partnering with Skyline College to provide students with hands on training in STEM entrepreneurialism at the new Fabrication Lab located in Building 7.

The Fabrication Lab gives students access to cutting-edge machines, like 3D Printers and Laser Cutters, that allow students to produce real-world prototypes of ideas and products that they'd like to pitch to businesses and perhaps expand into commercial production. Through this hands-on experience, students can take real action on making their entrepreneurial ideas a reality.
