Financial Aid

Students who are veterans and are eligible to receive veterans' education benefits may also apply for federal financial aid by completing the FAFSA. Financial aid eligibility for veterans is determined by the same federal process applied to all students. Please visit our Veterans Resource Center for additional resources.

Scholarships

Various scholarship opportunities and education funding resources are available for U.S. military veterans and their eligible dependents. Additionally, Skyline College Financial Aid provides information for other scholarship opportunities that are available for all students.

  • U.S. Army Education Benefits: Be a full-time soldier and earn credits towards a degree. Find information about earning money for your education, ROTC scholarships, and repaying college loans.
  • U.S. Army ROTC Scholarships: Whether you're a college-bound high school student or already attending a college or university, Army ROTC has scholarships available. Scholarships are awarded based on a student's merit and grades, not financial need.
  • U.S. Air Force Enlisted Education: The U.S. Air Force offers enlisted, officer, and healthcare educational opportunities. Follow the links to the officer and healthcare education pages to see what's available to you.
  • U.S. Air Force ROTC Scholarships: Air Force ROTC can help you to overcome the financial hardships associated with college, and when you complete your degree, you've got a guaranteed career after school - debt free.
  • Navy College Program: Earn your degree while serving in the Navy. The Navy College Program is your one-stop educational resource for college prep, financial aid, academic advice, and all Navy college, training, and officer programs.
  • Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society: NMCRS offers education programs to help eligible Navy and Marine Corps families pursue their academic goals by providing a source of education financing. Awards are provided solely on the basis of the applicant's financial need.
  • U.S. Navy ROTC Scholarships: Find out about scholarships from the Navy's ROTC program.
  • Money for College: Continue your education with money for college from the U.S. Navy. Options include the Baccalaureate Degree Completion Program, which can pay future officers a salary while they're in college.
  • U.S. Marine Corps: The official U.S. Marine Corps site organizes information and resources for you based on your age and educational level, from high school to college graduate. Discover what is available to help you meet your career goals.
  • U.S. Air National Guard: Visit this site to learn about the federal and state benefits that the Air National Guard offers to unit members and their families, including tuition assistance.
  • U.S. Army National Guard Education Center: Learn about the continuing education opportunities available to you and your family through the Army National Guard, including college benefits, tuition assistance, scholarships, and a variety of other programs.
  • U.S. Coast Guard Institute: Further your education while serving in the U.S. Coast Guard! The Coast Guard Institute is your education center for: college programs, examinations, financial assistance, and getting credit for your Coast Guard experience.
  • AFCEA Military Scholarships: AFCEA offers scholarships to students with some connection to the U.S. Armed Forces, either as an active-duty, veteran, spouse or dependent.

  •  Find out how to receive college credit for your military training and service through the American Council on Education. ACE advises colleges, universities, and students in awarding college credit and providing transcripts for military learning.
  • DAV's Jesse Brown Memorial Youth Scholarship Program: The Disabled American Veterans' Jesse Brown Memorial Youth Scholarship Program recognizes outstanding young volunteers who give of their time by awarding annual scholarships that may be used to continue their education.
  • David L. Boren Scholarships: The National Security Education Program awards David L. Boren Scholarships to outstanding U.S. undergraduates through a competitive national merit-based process. Each Boren Scholar goes abroad to a critical country to study its language and culture. Awards are for up to one academic year. Boren Scholars demonstrate their merit for an award of up to $20,000 in part by committing to work for the U.S. Government for at least one year.
  • AMVETS Scholarships: AMVETS annually awards scholarships, ranging from $1,000 to $4,000, to veterans/active military, their sons, daughters or grandchildren. A son, daughter or grandchild of a deceased veteran is also eligible. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence and financial need, the scholarships go to deserving high school seniors, high school JROTC students and veterans pursuing a higher education.
  • Blinded Veterans Association Scholarship: Since the early '80s, Blinded Veterans Association (BVA) has offered spouses and dependent children of blinded veterans a chance to continue their education through the Kathern F. Gruber Scholarship Program.
  • AFCEA Military Scholarships: AFCEA offers scholarships to students with some connection to the U.S. Armed Forces, either as an active-duty, veteran, spouse or dependent.
  • DUSA Scholarships: The Society of Daughters of the U.S. Army (DUSA) offers $1,000 scholarships to the daughters and granddaughters of active duty or retired Army officers.
  • AMVETS Scholarships: AMVETS annually awards scholarships, ranging from $1,000 to $4,000, to veterans/active military, their sons, daughters or grandchildren. A son, daughter or grandchild of a deceased veteran is also eligible.   • Military Order of the Purple Heart Scholarship: To be eligible, applicants must be a child or grandchild (natural, adopted, or step) or the spouse of a Military Order of the Purple Heart member in good standing.
