Join our cast and crew under the direction of Director Gary D. Ferguson, Vocal Music Director Jude Navari, Music Director Luis Zúñiga, and Tech Director Josh Harris in a musical that changed the landscape of musical theatre forever.

About the Musical

Set in the bohemian neighborhood of East Village in New York City, RENT follows the lives of a group of struggling artists and musicians, who face the challenges of love, friendship, creativity, and the realities of living with HIV/AIDS. Jonathan Larson's powerful music and poignant storytelling create a show that resonates with audiences of all ages.

General Information about the Musical Theater classes and Fall 2023 Enrollment

Students participating in the Fall 2023 Spring Musical production must enroll in BOTH MUS 410 (2 units) and DANC 410 (2 units). 

  • MUS. 410.1* - Vocal Ensemble for the Musical Theater Production
  • DANC 410.1* - Dance for the Musical Theater Production

*Students who have previously participated in a Skyline College spring musical and enrolled in MUS. 410.x/DANC 410.x would enroll in the next class in the levelled sequence (either 410.2, 410.3, or 410.4).

The two classes taken together provide the rehearsal time for the Spring Musical production. 
Together, these classes are scheduled to meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the Fall 2023 semester from 1 – 5 p.m.  Class meetings begin Sept. 5 and end Nov. 21.

Skyline College’s Sexuality and Gender Alliance Club (SAGA) and the Dance, Drama, and Music Departments present a sneak preview from the College’s Fall musical production of RENT followed by a panel discussion moderated by Prof. Rika Fabian (Sociology Faculty Member and SAGA Club Advisor).

The panel will feature student performers from RENT, SAGA club members, Prof. Gary Ferguson (RENT Director), and Prof. Arthur Takayama (Art Faculty Member). Please join us from 2-3 p.m. in the Intercultural Center (Building 4, Room 4-240) for this FREE event.
