Skyline College provides many awareness, reporting, and support resources on gender or sex-based discrimination and sexual misconduct for students, employees, and visitors. The following information and tools help keep your learning and work environment safe and enjoyable. We are committed to ensuring a safe setting for our community.

Sexual Harassment

Skyline College does not tolerate sexual misconduct. Sexual misconduct includes (but is not limited to) sexual assault, sexual exploitation, stalking, cyber-stalking, bullying and cyber-bullying, and retaliation. If you have been a victim of sexual misconduct, you can get help and make a report.

As a recipient of federal funds, Skyline College is subject to Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 which prohibits discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities.

Skyline College has a policy of providing an educational and employment environment in which no person shall be unlawfully subjected to discrimination on the basis of ethnic group identification, national origin, religion, age, sex, race, color, ancestry, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or physical or mental disability in any program or activity that is administered by, funded directly by, or that receives any financial assistance from the State Chancellor or Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges.

Reporting Options

The following options for reporting include contacting or filing reports with the Title IX Coordinator, SMCCD Public Safety, and San Bruno Police. You can also submit a CARE Request if you think someone should check in with a potentially distressed student.

The District’s primary concern is your safety and the safety of our campus community.

Report to Title IX Coordinator

The Skyline College Title IX Coordinator is an administrator with delegated authority from the Chancellor to receive and coordinate responses to gender or sex-based discrimination and sexual misconduct reports. All reports made will be addressed in a timely and appropriate manner.

Report potential violations to the Title IX Coordinator or file an online report.

CARE Request

The Skyline College CARE request is designed as a resource for students, faculty, and staff to share concerns they have about students who may be in distress in class, on campus, or online. If you would like someone to reach out to the student, submit a CARE request.

Report to Public Safety or Local Law Enforcement

For an emergency requiring the police or fire department, dial 9-1-1

Both the San Bruno Police Department and Skyline College Public Safety will:

  • Help you to obtain medical assistance
  • Help you obtain Emergency Protective Orders, if appropriate
  • Conduct a criminal investigation, if appropriate
  • In the event of an arrest, help you obtain a court order to protect you
  • Connect you with community support services

About Confidentiality

Information regarding a report submitted to a Title IX Officer shall only be shared with other District employees and law enforcement exclusively on a "need to know" basis. District employees shall endeavor to honor any Complainant's request for confidentiality; however, the District shall also weigh requests for confidentiality against its duty to provide a safe and nondiscriminatory environment for all campus community members. Confidentiality cannot be guaranteed.
